NRA’s head, rent free

TX Chapter of @MomsDemand was ground zero for exposing gun extremists. Because of our work, the country woke up to men carrying rifles in grocery stores and restaurants next to our families - & we made sure everyone knew it was the NRA’s dirty work. @shannonrwatts #NRABankruptcy
The NRA is weaker than it’s ever been, and @MomsDemand and the gun violence prevention movement are stronger than it’s ever been. We have the NRA on the ropes - after years and years of hard work - and we’ll keep going until they’re out of power.
Every day, in every neighborhood, in every statehouse, in every district, @MomsDemand volunteers are working to unmask the NRA's dangerous agenda. We have a 90% track record of beating back their bad bills in statehouses every year for the past 5 years.
In 2019, we spent $2.5M to help flip the Virginia General Assembly, outspending the NRA by a 4-to-1 margin. That was in addition to months of work by @MomsDemand volunteers who talked to voters, knocked on tens of thousands of doors, and made over 100,000 phone calls.
We've also gone toe-to-toe with the NRA across the country, beating them in elections and on the legislative battlefield. Even before they bet big and lost in last year’s presidential election, our work culminated in their huge loss on their home turf in Virginia.
We've waged campaigns against the NRA, and convinced corporations to cut ties with them. We asked Google, Amazon, Apple, and Roku to Stop Streaming NRATV. The station folded in 2019.
For example, we exposed the illegality of Carry Guard, the NRA’s insurance product (also known as murder insurance) which launched in 2017. We recognized its illegality, and shared that with regulators, leading to the NRA being charged by the NY Department of financial services.
From the inception of @MomsDemand, we made it our mission to take on the NRA. It started at our kitchen tables, where we unearthed proof of their radical agenda, misdeeds and dangerous messaging, and shared it with media, lawmakers and regulators.
In addition, the NRA's largest donors are leaving in droves, and the new Biden administration will certainly suss out their misdeeds and dark money spending going back to the 2016 election.
Oh - and Texas @MomsDemand volunteers will be there to keep an eye on them.
On top of what happened today, the @NRA is under investigation by Congress, state lawmakers and the IRS for financial misconduct, tax fraud, campaign finance violations, and serving as a foreign asset. There is more in store for them and their non-profit status is in jeopardy. 💪
