BREAKING: Pres. Biden signs executive actions on coronavirus response, including invoking Defense Production Act "to direct all federal agencies and private industry to accelerate the making of everything that's needed to protect, test, vaccinate, and take care of our people."

President Joe Biden knows we are all in this together. During World War II, factories across the country played a role in winning the war. Today's executive action means we will use the Defense Production Act to save countless lives here at home.

Today, the New Yorker Union is undertaking a twenty-four-hour work stoppage in protest of @newyorker management's egregious wage proposal. Our statement:

I stand with @newyorkerunion workers walking out today and fighting for a first union contract. The New Yorker should sit down with its workers and negotiate a fair contract in good faith.

Half of American workers are living paycheck to paycheck, and millions earn starvation wages. With Democratic control of the White House, the Senate and the House, we must raise the minimum wage to a living wage – $15 an hour. No excuses.

New: NLRB says around 6,000 Amazon Alabama warehouse workers will vote by mail on unionization starting February 8, rejecting Amazon's push to hold the voting in-person

Amazon doesn’t want its workers to form a union because unionized workers have:
- higher wages
- better benefits
- more control over their lives

If Amazon workers in Alabama vote to form a union, that will benefit every worker in America.

The bottom line is: We’ve got crises.

We should hear what my Republican colleagues have to say, but we are not going to spend months and months and not address the incredible pain millions of families are experiencing.

“Hands up don’t shoot!” We condemn the arrests of several peaceful strikers on the @Teamsters picket line tonight at Hunts Point Market. These essential workers deserve their $1 raise

Essential workers should not have to go on strike for decent pay, and no worker should be threatened for exercising their constitutional rights.

I strongly support Hunts Point Market @Teamsters strikers in their struggle for justice.

As President Biden said, this country today faces unprecedented crises. The times call out for bold action. That’s what we’ve got to do.

Joe Biden will inherit from Trump: The worst economy since the Great Depression, the worst public health crisis in 100 years, massive wealth inequality, the existential threat of climate change, a racist immigration system. These unprecedented crises demand unprecedented action.

Today is the last full day of the worst and most dangerous president in American history.

For four years Trump has tried to divide our people up.

Our job, now, is to bring people together around an agenda that works for all, not just the few.

BREAKING: U.S. president-elect Joe Biden is planning to cancel the Keystone XL pipeline permit via executive action on his first day in office.

The Keystone pipeline is & always has been a disaster. I'm delighted that Joe Biden will cancel the Keystone permit on his first day in office. With all of the major crises facing America, we must never lose sight of the most existential threat facing our planet: climate change.

In this unprecedented moment – a pandemic, an economic meltdown, right wing violence, climate change, massive wealth inequality, systemic racism – we must move forward in an unprecedented way. Now is the time to stand up for working families & take on powerful special interests.

For too long our country has prioritized corporate profits, tax cuts for the rich and military spending over investing in the American people.

That is what I will fight to change as Senate Budget Committee Chairman.

When Republicans controlled the Senate they used the reconciliation process to provide huge tax breaks for the rich and large corporations.

We're going to use reconciliation to protect working families, the sick and the poor.

Nearly 400,000 Americans have died from the coronavirus and the pandemic continues to soar. We need to aggressively increase vaccine production and get doses into the arms of everyone as soon as possible. Tens of thousands of lives are at stake.

Across more than 15 cities, from here in Memphis, to Detroit, to Durham, North Carolina, and beyond, fast-food cooks and cashiers are striking today to demand that employers like @McDonalds pay us $15 an hour

#FightFor15

McDonald’s paid its CEO more than $18 million in 2019.

Please don't tell me the company can't afford to pay its workers a living wage.

I stand in solidarity with the workers on strike today. Together, we will increase the federal minimum wage to $15 an hour.
