Nine Ways To Make Money With Your Blog

Blogging is one of the most popular activities to do online these days. There are many people that blog for fun or as part of their business. While blogging can be an exciting and worthwhile activity, it can also be time consuming. Sometimes it would be nice if there was some way you could profit from all of the time you put into your blog. There are actually more ways to make money with your blog than you probably realize. Here are just nine ways to make money with your blog.
1. Pay Per Click Advertising
There are a number of pay per click advertising networks that allow you to join them and participate so that you can get paid. After enrolling with the network you will then place a line of code on your site where you would like the advertisements to appear. Then, when visitors to your blog click on these ads it will be registered and you will be paid a specific amount for each click.
2. Banner Advertising Sales
If your blog has a reasonable amount of popularity, it should be getting some traffic. Based on this traffic level, there may be people willing to pay you to display a banner ad that links to their website on your blog. The monetary payment is the reward for you, the reward for them is that traffic going to your site may click on their banner ad and be taken to their website.
3. Paid Blogging
For those that have a great grasp on blogging and can write on a number of different subjects successfully, paid blogging may be the perfect thing. Paid blogging companies allow you to become a member and then take blogging opportunities where you write about a certain program or website in exchange for getting paid. This works good for you as a way to earn some extra income and it works great for the advertiser as they get exposure on your blog to your web traffic.
4. Text Advertising Sales
Similar to banner advertising, text advertising involves selling lines of text for a specified amount of money per month. These links typically go in what is known as the blogroll section of a blog, usually in the sidebar. These links are easy to add to the web design of a blog and in the long run can bring in good money.
5. Featured Content / Contest Sponsorship
If you have featured content like a special photo gallery or a popular web tool, or if you run a popular contest, it may be possible to sell sponsorship of this featured content to an advertiser so that in exchange for them paying a set fee to you, your featured content will now be “brought to you by” them.
6. Hosted Content
Selling hosted content is also a great way to bring in some extra money. Hosted content is usually in the form of an entire page on your blog that is completely designed and devoted to an advertiser. This works especially well if your blog shares the same theme as the advertiser looking to buy the hosted content on your site.
7. Affiliate Sales
Affiliate Sales covers a large area of the online sales market. Affiliate sales usually means the selling of goods that belongs to someone else. These can be either real three dimensional items or they can also be electronic items like ebooks. The products are not owned by you and you do not have to take care of any shipping, you merely sell the items, keep a cut for yourself, and the seller ships it to your customer.
8. Selling Electronic Goods
It is also possible to just outright sell electronic goods like ebooks yourself. You can either write your own material or you can purchase an ebook from a content author and then you can sell them on your blog, keeping all the profit for yourself.
9. Inline Text Advertising
To participate in inline text advertising sales you must first join an inline text advertising network. These networks allow you to add code to your site and then certain words from the text on your blog will suddenly turn into links and link to advertisers. These links will appear to be part of the blog post you have written, though they will link to other sites online. Depending on the network you join, you will then get paid for either the people that come to your blog and click on the links or just paid based on how many people view the links as they sit on your blog.
Making Money Online while blogging is not the most difficult thing that you will ever do, although there is a science to it and many skills that some have shown they can master. There are a number of ways to make money while blogging, but the thing that holds them altogether is that you need to put a very good amount of effort into it so that it? will payoff in the end. Making money with your blog is possible, there are a number of ways you can bring in extra funds because of your blog.

Great post! Those are about as many ways to make money with a blog as I can think of, except for selling it. Some of those ways I wasn’t even familiar with, like hosted content. My favorite is definitely affiliate sales, as you can make a lot of money that way (my friend has made almost $10,000 in the month of December alone from affiliate sales).

This was a handy post for newbies in making money online with niche blogs. I am currently trying to increase my direct referrals in Legit PTC sites, using my blog traffic.
I can’t imagine myself making money with traditional affiliate programs, as they need considerable money to start with.

Good list of ways to make money from home. I do a few paid surveys as well – doesn’t generate a lot of income and you have to wait for it to add up before you receive any cash but when it comes through it’s a nice surprise.

Thanks for some good points. The “Hosted Content” section was particularly interesting.
I guess you are only limited by your creativity in how you make money with your blog(s), as there are so many options available. You don’t have to have your blogs in and of themselves being your main money earners either, as you could use them to gather visitors and direct them to your own external pages. You could link to your own devoted sales site, as an example.
